Rajan obtained his first degree from National University of Singapore. He read English Literature, Political Science and Philosophy. He graduated from NUS with a Bachelor of Arts degree in 1989 and subsequently completed his Master’s Degree in English Literature at NUS.
Rajan graduated from University of London, UK and was called to the English Bar as a Barrister in England & Wales (Lincoln’s Inn) in 1998. He did his training and pupillage under the Veteran Criminal lawyer Mr. Thangavelu, whom he describes as a long-time friend, mentor and guide. He was subsequently called to the Singapore Bar and was admitted as an Advocate and Solicitor of the Supreme Court in 2000. He then joined G. Raman & Partners as a qualified lawyer in 2000. Prior to joining EPLC, he was a Senior Legal Associate, Director and a Managing Director at Hilborne Law LLC.
Prior to becoming a qualified Lawyer, Rajan worked at the Singapore General Hospital Mortuary, Schools, National Archives and National Library. He was also a School Teacher and an Oral History Officer. He has interviewed hundreds of people in Singapore including the late retired Singapore Supreme Court Judge Mr. Justice Choor Singh.
Rajan was also a Senior Prison’s Officer (Singapore Prison Service) and a Director of a Counselling Centre. All these jobs and life experiences has given him the advantage of seeing different perspectives which has added to his ability to give the best advice to his clients. In his legal career of 20 years as a litigation lawyer, Rajan has acted and represented clients from all walks of life doing court work, trials in the State Courts, Family Court, High Court and Court of Appeal.
His main areas of practice is Criminal Law, Family Law, Civil Law, Probate & Administration, Insurance Law, Corporate, Tenancy Matters Business Agreement Employment Law, Personal Injuries and Property Damages, and Workmen Compensation claims. He has considerable experiences in handling complex cases both in the State and High Courts.
Rajan’s experience as a Criminal Lawyer includes trials in the State Courts and capital cases for murder and drug offences assigned by the Supreme Court of Singapore.
Rajan is an experienced litigation and meditation lawyer in Singapore with good reputation. He is a Certified Meditator at the State Courts, Singapore Mediation Centre and with the Law Society of Singapore. He is also a Commissioner for Oaths and a Notary Public.
He has local and international clients. He prides himself giving practical advice and creative solutions to his clients issues and problems. His practice is based on good client care, protecting client’s interest with reasonable fees. His lawyer client-relationship is based on mutual trust and respect.
Rajan has received numerous appreciation letters, well wishes and testimonials from clients. His performance in the Courtroom has been appreciated by both clients and Judges. He handles each case with passion, commitment, conviction and fearlessly defends his clients.
Rajan is a Legal Advisor to Yew Tee PAP branch and is an active member of Criminal Legal Aid Scheme and does Probono Work. Rajan is also an Adjunct Lecturer, University of London, (B.A. English Literature and LLB Law Programmes). He also held the appointment of a Police Inspector (V) with the Singapore Police Force. He was a member of the Criminal Law Practice Committees.
He has given regular media interviews sharing his knowledge of law and expertise and is often quoted in the local newspapers such as, The Straits Times, The New Paper, Today’s Paper and. Tamil Murusu. Rajan has also appeared on live TV shows and the radio for talks and panel discussions sharing his cases and giving commentaries as well as his perspective on legal issues.
